TRACK-FIELD

Westlake's Judson Crockett thinks track makes him faster for football. TCU hopes so, too.

All about Judson: planning a football career at TCU

Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

When I was around 12 years old, my family went to Indonesia. It's a beautiful part of the world with very interesting cultures and people.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would want to travel to Japan just to see what it's like and if it lives up to all the good things I've heard about visiting.

Westlake's Judson Crockett is a two-sport standout, playing football in the fall and running track in the spring. His senior track season, however, has been cut short because of an injury. He'll play football at TCU this fall as a cornerback.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I’ll be playing football and studying economics at TCU. After graduating, I hope to have opportunities in the business field.

Running track keeps Crockett sharp, ready for football

What has been your favorite track memory in high school?

It's when our (1,600-meter) relay team qualified for the regional meet. I felt extremely exhausted and glad to have finished, but I was also proud to see how far our relay team had progressed in such a short time.

Do you have any meet-day rituals?

No specific meet-day rituals, just get a good warmup and a good breakfast.

You also play football. Does anything in football benefit you when you run track? Or vice versa?

I believe running track helps a lot with speed on the football field, learning more fundamentals of running.

Westlake cornerback Judson Crockett, breaking up a pass against Lake Travis in a playoff game, plans to study business at TCU. His track season was cut short this spring after he broke his collarbone while snowboarding in Colorado.

If you could be an Olympian in any sport, what would you do?

I would choose snowboarding. I love the mountains, and I’m impressed every time I watch Olympic snowboarding. I’d be happy to be able to do any of the tricks they do.

What are your individual goals for track season?

Unfortunately, I just broke my collarbone, so none are that reachable. I was snowboarding in Colorado, and I landed on my shoulder.

Judson Crockett is a member of the Westlake football and track and field teams. He will attend TCU in the fall and play football for the Horned Frogs, and he thinks running track helps with his speed in football.

Dream dinner: looking to Giannis to help with the vibe

If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

I would choose Jay-Z, Gandhi, Giannis (Antetokounmpo) and George Washington.

Why did you choose Giannis?

I chose Giannis because I would need someone that could be humorous and not be talking philosophy like the other three.
